About:
Welcome to SONOR DUET FESTIVAL - VII, where artistry and collaboration come together in a celebration of timeless music. Join us as talented duos from all backgrounds showcase their skill, passion, and harmony through the beauty of classical music.
The duet festival is open to the public, and it will be held at the Berkeley Piano Club in the beautiful historical building at 2724 Haste Street, Berkeley.
Please fill out 1 (one) application per duo; however, each applicant should make their payments separately unless the duo is formed by siblings.
Important Dates:

Late applications incur a processing fee $25.

Once you submit the registration form, please make your non-refundable payment of $60/student and $90/family discount, $100/siblings duo. Fees are due at the time of registration.

A processing fee of $3.65 up to $6.08 will be added to the payment.
FEstival GUideline:
Open to students of all ages, levels, and instruments.
Duos may be formed in any instrumentation.
Perform one piece within the allotted time limit.
The duo's level is determined by the higher-level student.
Memorization is NOT required.
Bring original published music or a printed digital download showing the source. Scores must be clean (no handwritten markings), and the first measure of each line must be numbered.
Applicants performing in more than one duet must submit a separate application form for each entry. For example, a student entering the "Siblings Duo" Category and "Category A" must submit 2 separate application forms.
“SIBLINGS DUO” must consist of siblings with at least a 3-year age difference (e.g., ages 7 and 10). There are no age groups; duos compete by performance division, as recommended by their teacher.
Application Fees and awards:
$60/student
$90/family (when another family member participates in a different category)
• $100 – Siblings Duo Category (all 3 divisions)
Each applicant should make their payments separately unless the duo is formed by siblings.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners receive trophies, Festival Certificates, and Judges' Evaluations.
All other participants will receive Judges’ Evaluations, along with a medal and a certificate.

Category A - Elementary, Levels Prep. - 1 2 mins or less
Category B - High Elementary, Levels 2-3 3 mins or less
Category C - Intermediate, Levels 4-5 5 mins or less
Category D - High Intermediate, Levels 6-7 7 mins or less
Category E - Pre Advanced/Adv, Levels 8-10 8 mins or less
Category F -Siblings Duo ( 3 Divisions) 2 min to 8 minutes

Division C: Level 7–Level 10

Registration is open through March 28, 2027
The exact time for performances will be announced.
Participants must provide an original music score along with one copy to the adjudicators on the day of the festival.
After each group’s performances, Participants will be given Festival Certificates, Medals, and Judges’ Evaluations.
Judges' decisions are final.

Online participants will submit their performance video and a PDF file of their original music score.
Results will be announced on April 18th, 2027, on our website and social media;
All online participants will receive their certificates and comment sheets via email. The recipient must pay for any international shipping fees for awards.
Submission Requirements:
Please upload your video to YouTube as unlisted and title it SONOR Duet Festival 2027.
Video recordings must be made with one fixed side angle, ensuring that the performer’s face, hands, and legs are visible. Edits are not permitted.
