About:
Welcome to Sonor Music School’s annual VI DUET FESTIVAL, where artistry and collaboration come together in a celebration of timeless music. Join us as talented duos from all backgrounds showcase their skill, passion, and harmony through the beauty of classical music.
The duet festival is open to the public, and it will be held at the Berkeley Piano Club in the beautiful historical building at 2724 Haste Street, Berkeley. Please fill out 1 (one) application per duo; however, each applicant should make their payments separately unless the duo is formed by siblings.
Important Dates:

Online Festival: Sunday, April 5th, 2026

Once you submit the registration form, please make your non-refundable payment of $60/student and $90/family discount, $100/siblings duo (new category this year). Fees are due at the time of registration.

A processing fee of $3.65 up to $6.08 will be added to the payment.
Qualifications and Rules:
For students of any age, level, or instrument.
Duos can be formed in any instrumentation
Participants can perform 1 piece within the given time limits.
Levels should be determined by the higher-level student of the duo.
Memorization is NOT required.
Provide original, published sheet music or a printout of a digital download including the source. The music score should be clean with no handwritten marks and notations. The first measure of each line should be numbered.
Application Fee:
$60/student, $90/family discount, when another family member participates in a different category, $100/ Siblings Duo Category* ( new this year)
Applicants performing in more than 1 duet must fill out SEPARATE forms for each entry. For example, a student entering the "Siblings Duo" Category and "Category A" must submit 2 separate application forms.
Each applicant should make their payments separately unless the duo is formed by siblings.
Winners of each category will be awarded I, II, and III Place trophies, Festival Certificates, and Judges’ Evaluations.
All other participants will receive Judges’ Evaluations, along with a medal and a certificate.
“SIBLINGS DUO” must be formed with siblings who have at least a 3-year age gap between them (ex.7-year-old sibling with a 10-year-old sibling.) This category has no specific age group; duos will be evaluated based on performance, not skill level.
Categories:
Category A - Elementary, levels Prep. - 1 2 mins or less
Category B - High Elementary, Levels 2-3 3 mins or less
Category C - Intermediate, Levels 4-5 5 mins or less
Category D - High Intermediate, Levels 6-7 7 mins or less
Category E - Pre Advanced/Adv, Levels 8-10 8 mins or less
Category F -Siblings Duo ( no levels) Up to 5 minutes

Participants must provide an original music score along with one copy to the adjudicators on the day of the festival.
Judges' decisions are final.
After each group’s performances, Participants will be given Festival Certificates, Medals, and Judges’ Evaluations.
ONLINE:
Submission DEADLINE: Sunday, April 5th, 2026
Online participants will submit their performance video along with a PDF file of their original music score by Sunday, April 5th, 2026
Results will be announced on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, on our website and social media;
All online participants will receive their certificates and comment sheets via email. The recipient must pay for any international shipping fees for awards.
Submission Requirements:
Please upload your video to YouTube as unlisted and title it SONOR Duet Festival 2026.
Video recordings must be made with one fixed side angle, ensuring that the performer’s face, hands, and legs are visible. Edits are not permitted.
