Mr. Safi Rouhi

is a concert pianist and harpsichordist from Oakland, California, with over twenty years of piano study. He trained in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s pre-college program throughout middle and high school, studying under Dr. Alla Gladysheva and Dr. William Wellborn. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign on a Music Talent Scholarship, where he studied piano with Professor Timothy Ehlen and harpsichord with Professor Charlotte Mattax Moersch.

Specializing in French Baroque and late-Romantic repertoire, he has performed in numerous concerts and competitions in the Bay Area, Poland, and Urbana–Champaign, including appearances with the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra and participation in the 2023 Brandenburg Concerto Project. In addition to his performance work, Mr. Rouhi is well-versed in piano technique, music history, and theory at all levels.

He is especially passionate about helping young students develop speed, strength, finger independence, and muscle memory, enabling them to express their musicality with freedom and confidence. He particularly enjoys working with children, believing their natural intuition and remarkable ability to absorb information give them the potential to grow into versatile, lifelong musicians. He is well-versed in piano technique, music history, and theory of all levels. Still, he is especially interested in helping young students build speed, strength, finger independence, and muscle memory to freely and virtuosically express their musicality.
