Erika Miranda, trained in the USA, (San Francisco Conservatory of Music and St Louis Conservatory of Music), UK (Anglo-American Chamber Music for Strings in England and private studies with Kato Havas, Monica Huggett and Catherine Macintosh), Canada (Johanessen International School for the Arts) and France (European Community Baroque Orchestra) For seven years, Erika was Principal for English Festival Opera as well as a section first violin for orchestras such as London Schubert Players, London ApolloOrchestra, and the City of Oxford Orchestra & Soloists, touring and recording with these ensembles.
While living in Oxford, she became a Founder/ Director of her own ensemble (Ensemble Capriccio), establishing two highly successful baroque and romantic concert series in collaboration with the Oxford City Council and local businesses. The concerts take place in some of the most historic and prestigious venues in the Oxford area. Ms. Miranda has also adjudicated for concertmaster auditions at Oxford University.
In the USA, Erika has been the Principal Second Violin for the Sacramento Opera and the Sacramento Choral Society. She also continues to play with orchestral and chamber music ensembles throughout the Bay Area, including musicals and shows. She performs with celebrity artists such as Josh Groban, Smokey Robinson, Steve Perry/”Journey,” and Andrea Bocelli.
For the last 22 years, since returning to the States, she has been on the music faculty and directed programs for the musically eminent Crowden School in Berkeley, California, and has developed a highly respected violin studio with many prize-winning students and string quartets. She has been Head of Strings for the Berkeley Youth Orchestra, been Guest-Director for the Sacramento Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program, and founded Youth Music International, bringing gifted young musicians together from the US and UK in San Francisco and Oxford, UK, as well as State Chair of N. California for the prestigious VOCE competition (an MTAC program).
